Judy Weaver is the winner of a $500 shopping spree at Westminster Mall.  She submitted this heartwarming story to the City of Westminster's Westminster Mall Web site last year:

When reading the story of Westminster Mall in the Sunday Rocky, I was overwhelmed with emotions and memories I had long forgotten. When I was a little girl of about 10 or 11, Joslyns had a little restaurant upstairs.  My dad is an avid "going for coffee guy", so we wereFather & Daughter there often. My folks and I would go there every week and have breakfast, enjoy each others company, and gaze out the windows at a much smaller, but just as beautiful Westminster view.  After breakfast we would do a little shopping, and wander around for a while.  What a pleasure it was to have these memories re-kindled. The old (affordable) restaurants in the department stores had such a warm comfortable setting.

These memories are of very special importance to me.  My father was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in October.  During these trying and painful times in our lives, it is nice to have a happy memory.

I really did miss the old face of Westminster Mall when the new stores came in and the expansion happened.  But I love the mall the way it is now, and I am sure to love it after the current renovation project.  Times change and "our" mall must change with them.

I take my kids there now (and sometimes they take me), we have had delightful times there over the years.

I think I'll take dad next week, maybe we can have coffee.

Thanks for the memories Westy,
Judy Weaver
